Hi,

Your article seems to imply that everyone who has belly fat is obese or overweight. I am thin in the rest of my body, eat healthy and a wide variety of foods and try to get some walking done whenever I am able in my hectic schedule. My question is, how can I reduce my belly fat (just the belly fat) alone? The rest of my body is thin by any standards. However, I should mention that I am in my menopause and many people address this issue, but incorrectly. Any suggestions? I have tried no sugar in my diet (I’m not really a fan of cakes or sweet stuff like chocolate or desserts anyway) which didn’t cost me a lot, I only have one teaspoon of brown sugar in my coffee (I hate artificial sweetners- Splenda, Equal, Stevia or otherwise. In fact I hate artificial and the so called “light” products altogether). I have tried minimal fat in my diet, barely olive oil and avocado salad (I hate junk food anyway), but yet I still have the stubborn belly fat. I have also tried vegetarian diet and a diet based on only poultry and fish with vegetables (raw or cooked). I have tried a diet that eliminates bread and starch, with the exception of whole grain rice and sweet potatoes. I am certainly not a fan of weight training or situps. Is there any other way I can reduce belly fat without so much dam trouble? Obviously, either I’m producing too much cortisol or what? If that is the case, are there any pills or natural foods or products that reduce cortisol in the body?

I would appreciate a detailed answer

Hi,
I am a 13 year old who just wants to have a bit of a flat tummy because it sticks out. I have a sugar addiction. I have my period and everything but everyone seems to have a flat stomach. I drink PLENTY of water. My diet has more sugar but I don’t get fat. I just somehow want my belly to be slightly more flat so that I can function much easier. Because my belly fat kind of hurts my stomach. I eat plenty. Can you recommend something? Thanks

I’m a 15 year old girl. I have a HUGE problem concerning my weight. I weigh 214lbs.! I want to say that I’ve tried everything but I’ve just tried a lot of things. One thing I recently started was not eating after six, drinking a lot of water, eating less, I’ve also tried vegetarianism(which includes fish and dairy). I’ve done the vegetarian thing for about three years. But it seems like whenever I try to lose weight I just keep gaining more!! I really just want to be able to go shopping and actually shop. Whenever I go shopping with my mom, I NEVER get anything gor myself because all the really nice clothes can’t fit me. And get this, MY MOM WEIGHS LESS THAN ME!! How suckish is that!! I’m just about to finish school, graduation’s in just a couple of months! I really want to look good for it and maybe even get a date(if that’s possible). Anyways i weigh around 115 punds or somethin, i’m not that fat but i need to lose some pounds for my stomach, I hate sits up but i’ll try anyway, i eat alot of food like rice, bread, sweet foods, i hate chips and i don’t like vegetable much. although i eat fruits like a few times each month, and i drink alot of water, when i mean alot, i say prob 2 or 3 gallons of water each day and i don’t even realize it lol my size pants is 12 regular. my stomach is fat but people say i am skinny, i want to have a slim body again, any other suggestions? oh yeah, i always make sure i don’t eat alot of cholesterol each day ^^

I too am in the menopause stage and have a lot of belly fat. I am not a big eater and I am not fat all over. I have a very small frame. I am unable to do various types of exercise do to back problems. I just wish there was some way to lose weight without starving myself… Any suggestions.

Im 29 years old have 4 children and cant seen to be able to get rid of this belly i was always a thin teenage up until i started having kids my last 3 were all back to back and most people say it gonna take time to get rid of it. Hi i am currently losing weight fairly rapidly and have lost inches from my waist and bulked up really well, i currently bike to college which is about 4 miles there and another 4 miles back, i also go to my local gym and do weight training which is really helping me bulk up in muscle, but after a weight work out i will row for about 15 mins and then a short jog on a treadmill but normally i try and do this outside in the woods or across feilds. Another good thing is circuit training at the gym (ask someone at the gym if you go to one and if you dont i strongly recommend it!) And dont diet, i eat an average amount, weetabix, bannana and honey with semi skimmed milk for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch with some fruit and then a normal sort of dinner. I drink alot of semi skimmed milk and alot of water to throughout the day.

So i suggest just eat normally and avoid the chippy and takeaways, and try to bike to work or school/college, try to jog for 10 mins. Another great way to lose weight is to hit the swimming pool and swim!!! (just talk to people if you feel uncomfortably with your body in the pool, they can have great advice and have probably been in the same situation as you!!) i weigh 129-141 pounds and im 5’4, and i really want to be skinny as much as possible bc im the 3rd largest kid in my class. im not big big, im just really close to being over weight and all of the girls i know are super skinny, i dont want to be like that, i just want averge. i always eat alot of veggy’s, i dont eat alot, i dont even eat breakfeast bc im not hungry. i walk for over 3 hours on the weekend with my friend! and i really want to lose some weight b4 i go into 7th grade! i cant do sit up or push up bc of a shoulder injury i had last summer, and i really want to lose my belly fat. pleas help!

Hi I’m 13 years old, I’m 130 pounds, my mom says that I weigh that much because I’m tall, I eat lots of fruit, drink plenty of water, and I’m vegetarian ( no fish). I like to take walks but the sit ups and push ups isn’t really my thing… my mom won’t let me take and diet suppliments and tells me to just stop trying because I’m not fat. I want the perfect body for high school…. can anybody gimmie a hand?

Hi im 15 years old. Right now i have weightlifting. Before i got into weighlifting i would do sit ups and some other exercises. I did lose some belly fat but not as much as i would like. Now that im in weightlifting I have gotten stronger in my abdomen but still have not lost the belly fat. Any advice??

I hate to burst a lot of your bubbles, but losing belly fat is never a quick and easy process. It’s a lifestyle choice.
Another thing I need to address is the fact that many of you are way too young to be worried about this! Please google your weight, height, and age and notice that most of you are in the average to below average range. I definitely understand the stress of wanting to be thin, and TRUST ME, I’ve used up too much time and effort when I felt that same pressure in high school.
I don’t want to be the older chick who rains on your parade though, so I will say this: Make sure you eat a balanced diet. That is honestly the trick to being slim in all the right places. I used to eliminate a bunch of different types of foods thinking that there was some trick, but now my goal is to make sure I eat something from every food group every day. Make it a challenge to follow the new food guide pyramid:

Fruits: 2 cups
Vegetables: 2.5 cups
Grains (try to make it whole grains)- 6 ounces (one ounce is one serving)
Protein- 5.5 ounces (not that hard to do- meat isn’t the only thing with protein in it… eggs, low fat peanut butter, almonds, fish, beans…)
Dairy: 3 cups (try for low fat cheese, yogurt, fat free ice cream, skim milk…)
Oils: 6 teaspoons- try for olive oil (great for your skin, hair, nails)
And any other fats should be healthy fats beneficial to your body. You can go for an avacado, nuts, fish (omega 3′s, and other healthy fats).

One more tip, and I’ll stop rambling: Don’t be afraid to SWEAT. When you work out, really go for it. If you want to see results, don’t lie to yourself and half-ass the exercises. Try to run as long as you can and keep building that up to a personal goal. If you don’t like running, walk at an incline or try stairs; you’ll be srprised how quickly you start to sweat. Also, if dance classes or kick boxing is available to you (or if you buy a home video) have fun with it. You need to switch it up.

Hi Friends,

There’s no need to gym to lose the fat especially the obesiety in children or teenagers.
Here are the tips which I know, Try this, this will help you out.
1) Take a Rich breakfast, which is rich in fibre. Take your lunch good enough. Avoid the Dinner, but drink some citrus kinda juice.
2)Avoid Non-veg, especially chicken or turkey, Avoid Junk foods like pitzas or burgers.
3) and the third one, Cut a lemon and mix its juice in a glass of water, add two tea spoons of honey in it. This drink is called sharbath in my country, Drink it. It will brink a drastic change in you. because honey has the power to burn the fat, especially the belly fat.
4) Do cycling or skipping. But I prefer Cycling as the best one, which reduces the belly and hip region.

Hi guys
if you are serious about loosing belly fat, you will have to change you eating habits (no refined sugars) just natrual sugars from fruits and incorperate fish, veggies, and whole grains to your diet. Remember you should be eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day (Especisally Breakfast!) . You should also do at least 20 of cardio 5 times a week!

Guys your 10,11, 12,13 and so on.
Your young, your bodies changing and you have plenty of time to think about that later! Life your short pre-teen years without worrying what anyone else cares about! I know its hard because I’ve been through it but trust me why are you going to worry about something so minor at such an early stage in life when you have the rest of your life to really worry about it!
And if your really concerned about just exercise and diet, not a forced diet because that makes you gain even more weight! I lost so much weight on dieting and 15 minutes of exercise a day without having to starve and exhaust my body.
And it takes time you can’t expect results FAST. Be patience and you’ll see you’ll have the body you want in no time!!

i struggle with a similar problem, almost exact! i’m trying to design something that’ll work for me. its starting to work slowly but surly. here it is: drink tons of water, water helps flush out all the bad stuff out of your system and it kicks off the perfect diet. exercise at least once a day for 20-40 minutes. id start with 20 so you dont push too far, as for the exercise, do something aerobic, like brisk walking, jogging, or riding your bike. aerobic exercise help build muscle and burn fat. hope this helps :) .

Hello my name is Kristin. I’m 13 going on 14, and I’ve ALWAYS had belly fat. When I was in the 6th grade (8th grade now) I had a fairly large stomach that always seemed to poke out. But when I got to the 8th grade, my stomach flattened a tiny bit, but I still have rolls, and chubby-ness in that area. My thighs are chubby too, but it seems like no matter what I do this won’t get off of me. I have friends that are SUPER skinny, but I don’t want to be like that. And even so I don’t want to be just skinny, I’d like to be more athletic looking. I’m on the volleyball team and I have horses and I play softball, but no matter how many sports I do I never lose weight.
I understand what I have to do in order to try and lose weight with your advice, but I don’t really quite understand the calorie intake. And plus, my parents don’t want me to lose weight. They’re always saying I’m skinny and stuff. But I’d like to look better and feel better in a bikini with my friends. I weigh 136.
I kind of get the whole calorie thing, but I don’t really understand the 4-6 meals a day. Some of the things that I eat don’t have calories things on them (that I see). So how would I get my parents on board with me? I’m really desperate here!

wow i cant believe i just read all this. theres more to life than being skinny-its devastating to see that like 90% of these posts are from 12 year old girls. your still growing and developing, your weight and belly size shouldn’t even enter your thought process unless it’s a health risk. your still young, it’s better you realize whats important now than later. you should be focused on school and socializing with friends and having fun, stop obsessing over your appearance and accept the beautiful body you were born with.

Hey girls! no, im not a mom, and im not obese, but i am in the same situation you are. I am uncomfortable with my body and you can be that at any age. I dont want to be like all the people on her telling you your too young to worry about that, but in reality, you are. when i was 12 and 13 i was skinny.. i hit puberty and wooooo i gained weight. trying to get it off but i didnt really set my mind to it. It just shows how quickly your body is going to change. im 18 years old, and have been working out everyday as well as sports. ive lost 3 pounds in the past two weeks. which really isnt a lot. but at least its something. Also you might even feel bigger before you lose the weight. i know i did. bathing suit season is coming up and we all want to look good! just take the advice from all the people about eating right and working out. if you put your mind to it…. you will lose the weight. maybe slowly but surely.

Hey i’m dominique i’m 19yrs old i have a 1yr old daughter after i had my daughter i had lots of belly fat not just baby fat but from belly fat as well . so me and my cousin when i was 17 i used to do lots of dancing it helped me stay in shape and really works so if someone wants to lose weight and have fun doing it dance ! lol. cause you do lose weight too and also you can eat whatever you want just keep dancing and your all good !

can i just piont out that all the girls ages 10-15 need to stop worrying about the “belly fat” no offence but if you weigh like leess then like 140 you really have no problems if you want to lose the weight then join some school activity like band, softball, basketball, or some other sport. and worrying about the other girls will eventualy end up making you gain more weight. as for me i am 20 years old and i weight like 245 and just recently had a baby, but i have struggled with my weight since i was 16, but ik that back then if i ate regularly and had a salad or baked potatoe for lunch, stopped eating after 7 and walked after dinner i would drop the weight easy. si my suggestion is dont worry or think about it to much, eat healthy and know when to stop eating and some exercise everyday even if its 15 mins and you’ll have results

i feel kinda fat. i always have. when i was 10 years old i weighed 115 pounds. i live on a farm so most of its muscle but the scale still tortured me. when i get older i seek the world of fame and fortune so i need to look my best. i lost a few pounds, im now 107 and im 28% body fat. my bmr is 1345 or sumthing and i probally burn around 2000 on an average day. most boys are head over heels for me but i still feel so empty and ugly and fat. does everyone have fat roles when they bend down? and how do u stop ur frickin pants from rollin up? oh also i HATE water. i can only drink flavored water cause the plain tastes lik crap to me. i cant take any pills. and my mom is threating taking me to a therapist if i keep this up. i was down to eatin 1200 calories a day and then i was to 2000. and now im back to 1200…. i try to eat healthy food. and i eat from boredom. i work alot and have been trying to make up a normal every-day work ou routine thats easy to understand. if anyone has ANY information.. please tell me. drink water. it will flush out your system and get all the bad things out.
the recomended amount of water per day is 8 eight once glasses.
what calories u do consume should b healthy ones, lik apples and kiwis and bannas. not peanut butter and nutella ALL the time. in order to lose weight u must burn more than waht u consume. 4 example: if u burnt 2000 calories a day,(lik me) thenu could only eat 1500 a day. if u burn 500 cal. a day then u will lose a pound every week. eat a breakfast full of fiber, cause it helps fill u up. and if ur lik me and eat from boredom……1.try and make a list of what u plan on doing today…2.drink water..3. manage ur money (believe it or not it works 4 me).. and 4..eat 5-6 meals each day but keep em small.( breakfast snack lunch snack dinner ) dont eat past 7 o clock at night 4 starts. and truely if u cant get any boy cause ur fat.. ur not looking at the right boys. and what about other things? lik do you hav good sense of fashion? humor? do u hav nice skin? i mean theres alot more to life than just weight/worry. but i no what u feel lik. im surrounded by people thinner than me all the time. plus my hair is completely frizzy. i think the only reason people lik me is cause im funny and smooth with the boys. i really hope i helped… (goodbye bye)

Hey im 12 yrs old and i weight about 105 lbs i am not that big but i have a bit of belly fat. I am in a swimming team and i do competitive swimming every day for around 2.5 hrs a day and i eat healthy but i like sugar. I treat myself sometimes but not always. I just wish i could loose weight could u help me plzzzz. Just some tips about loosing belly fat plzz….

Hey my name is Rachel and im 12 and i get when people are saying o ur young u shoudnt worry, but thing is it makes me feel uncomfortable especially bc some of my friends are skinny. I want to have a flat stomach so i can feel comfortable in my bikini especially around my skinnier friends. I also want my legs to have less fat. i am definetly not the fattest girl and I’m not overweight, but i want to look better. I’m 100 pounds. And i play basketball, lacrosse, volleyball and tennis. I will try the things that have been said but is their anything else? O and to Bree you SO dnt need to lose weight. 105 pounds? ur 2 years older then me and only 5 more pounds u r so fine.

okay i am 12 and a girl, and since im going to jr. high this year i need to lose weight on my face,body,legs and arms…because when i was little my grandma would give me sooooooo much food. even with butter and that made everything worse..and when i was in pre k and kindergarten i was the fastest girl. and i was so popular. but now i want to be skinny for my boyfriend which is chubby cute….anyways now my grandpa is making me exercise every day! (which i hate) and he is a awsome grandpa, like he can hold onto a pole and put his legs straight in the air! and i want to do something quick!!! :(

I am in good shape, but its my young cousin Olivia who needs to lose the weight. She is 12 years old. She has terrible acne, but aside from that, her thighs and stomach are her mainly overweight parts. Her mother says she’s too young to diet, but she does a lot of sports (that mainly go on during the school year-she doesn’t have school now). She weighs around 150 pounds, but if you looked at her she doesn’t look fat or thin. She is very conscious about her body, and it makes me feel terrible that someone has to deal with that at such a young age. Being overweight is something her whole family deals with. Everyone but her sister which is my eldest cousin– Mikala. She is pretty,smart,thin, everything about her is perfect. This impacts Olivia because she really wishes to be like her sister. Even her sister wants to help her! What do we do??????
She’s too young for and MAJOR diet or any MAJOR workout. Please please help soon. She needs to lose weight within the next 2 weeks due to family events (wedding and such). I would appreciate a response quickly. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

I USE 2 WEIGH 80KG BT I NW WEIGH 73KG. ALL DID WAS TO REDUCE THE QUANTITY OF CARBOHYDRATE I CONSUME AND I’VE STOPPED EATING BEEF, I NW EAT LOTS OF FISH, LIVER,KIDNEY AND HEART. U GUYS CAN ALSO TRY IT.
